Nancy Forrester
I hold a Bachelor of Arts specialising in fine arts, specifically painting and photography. I have exhibited in the US, and after immigrating to Australia in Sydney and more recently in Adelaide.
As an avid traveller and photographer my paintings are based on both of these influences. The landscapes and seascapes are worked from that photography and memories. I have strived for a feeling about space rather than topographic records. I let the painting happen remaining open to all the possibilities that liberal amounts of paint and broad brushstrokes and the palette knife have to offer. They are also a result of surprises and
accidents that happen with paint.
I paint primarily in oils and work by building up layers from which I can explore depth, texture and colour. I enjoy trying to blur the boundaries between realism and abstraction. I try to show a sense of atmosphere/isolation without the loneliness and hope that in their simplicity the ordinary can become dramatic.
