Anthony Quartuccio
I am a self-taught artist and photographer, living in Adelaide.
My interest in digital photography grew out of my use of my camera to
document my painting portfolio. My photographic work now encompasses portraiture, landscapes and still life photographs and I enjoy the challenge of finding and capturing unconventional human, animal and urban-based subjects.
I have an interest in locating and shooting industrial and architectualscenes that might ordinarily not be documented for artistic reasons, such as demolition sites or unique buildings.
I have a broad range of interests and influences in the visual arts and art history, not limited only to photography. My work draws particularinspiration from the photography of Bill Brandt and Otto Steinert as well as the paintings of Francis Bacon, Sidney Nolan, Munch and Peter Booth and also the films of David Lynch.
In each image I attempt to balance lighting, composition and field of colour in order to bring over to the viewer a sense of both the stark reality of the subject as well as the impression it left on my senses and memory.
